Assisted Living Placement in Cape Coral & Fort Myers
When daily life at home is getting harder, we help you find an assisted living community that fits your loved one’s needs, personality and budget.
Is it time for assisted living?
Families usually call us after noticing a pattern, not a single event. Common signs include:
- Missed or mixed-up medications
- Falls, near-falls, or bruises that go unexplained
- Weight loss, spoiled food, or skipped meals
- Unopened mail, unpaid bills, or a house that’s slipping
- Loneliness or withdrawal since a spouse passed or driving stopped
- A caregiver spouse or adult child who is exhausted
What assisted living in Florida provides
Florida assisted living facilities (ALFs) provide housing, meals, and help with personal care such as bathing, dressing and medications. Every ALF must hold a standard license from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Some also hold specialty licenses that allow more care:
- Limited Nursing Services (LNS): certain nursing services provided by licensed nurses.
- Extended Congregate Care (ECC): more nursing and support so residents can age in place as needs increase.
- Limited Mental Health (LMH): required for facilities serving three or more residents with qualifying mental health conditions.
Why it matters: a community’s license determines who it can admit and when a resident might have to move. We check this for every community we suggest, and we’ll show you how to check it yourself.
Large community or small home?
Southwest Florida has everything from large resort-style communities to small residential assisted living homes. Larger communities tend to offer more amenities and activities; smaller homes can offer a quieter, family-like setting and higher staff attention. Neither is “better.” The right fit depends on your loved one.
